Forest Measurement and Production Forecasting
A prediction of the future timber volume production from a woodland or forest, taking account of the current forest inventory, yield class and planned cutting regimes.
Using both data supplied by the owner and gathered by myself on site, I can produce a production forecast for your woodland/forest detailing the volume of timber you can expect over a given timescale. I can also measure your standing or felled timber for sale purposes.
All data is gathered electronically using up to date equipment, using the methods described in Forest Mensuration: A Handbook for Practitioners (Forestry Commission).
Woodland Management Plans
Preparation of a management plan for your woodland to the UK Forestry Standard, which includes gathering all the data for a Felling Licence application if required.
I can also advise on any grants available through the Countryside Stewardship and Glastir Schemes and prepare the appropriate paperwork.
Deer Management
I can write a deer management plan for your woodland through to carrying out a deer cull to Best Practice standards. I hold the Deer Stalking Certificate (levels 1 + 2), Deer Management Certificate (Level 3), Fit and Competent (Scottish Natural Heritage) and the Sustainable Deer Management module (part of MSc) amongst others. Please contact me for further information.
Chainsaw Harvesting
I am available to fell timber on a sub-contract basis to commercial standards.
